On July 6, the sharp decline in crude oil
prices caused a drop in petrochemical product prices. Asian paraxylene also
suffered. Overnight, the crude oil market
crashed. The front-month ICE Brent crude futures fell to $104.53-130.25/b at
the Asian close at 0830 GMT on July 6. This was down from $113.75-130.25/b on
July 5. During the Market on Close assessment, there
were no trades or offers. The CFR Unv1/China Paraxylene marker
fell $53-58/mt day to $1,194-1,230/mt on July 6. The
downstream PTA market saw a soft landing. The CFR China PTA physical dropped
$25-30/mt on a day to $915-930/mt on July 6. China's Yuan marker fell from Yuan
169-200/mt or about $25.13-30.25/mt to Yuan 6,590-6,700/mt. According to
