India PTA: Prices fall tracking PX, downstream demand drops / Filament yarn demand may improve post-Diwali / Trade activity thins amid festivals in India

Purified terephthalic acid prices in India fell in the week to Oct. 3, tracking feedstock paraxylene values, which were down amid limited market activity and concerns over bearish demand signals. PTA CFR India down $7/mt day over day and$12/mt week over week at $664/mt Oct. 3, placing the spread to CFR China at $65/mt. The spread was within indications heard at $65-$70/mt over CFR China, which equated to $664-$669/ mt CFR India. The spread between CFR China and CFR India was unchanged day over day and week over week. The weekly average PTA price fell $5.70/mt to $671.50/mt CFR India.
