Asian PS: Prices decline on week tracking styrene monomer- Asian
PS Prices were lower because of weaker upstream Styrene prices- The current quarter has seen stronger demand.Spot negotiations remained weak in the
international market due to a wide gap between buying and selling indications
week ending August 17. Buyers attempted to negotiate lower prices because of
falling upstream styrene prices. Producers
in general-purpose polystyrene markets (GPPS) have indicated that there was
still weak demand, and they expect some recovery in September. Due to the uncertain economic environment, a producer said
that there was no buyer interest in the fourth quarter. Producers received offers of $1,330-1,350/mt CFR China, and
$1,450-1,480/mt CFR SEA. The situation in
the high-impact polystyrene markets (HIPS) was similar to GPPS markets. There
