Asian PS: Prices are stable or lower amid market turmoil due to tariff tensions / HIPS demand is weighed down by US Tariffs / EPS Producer concerned about SE Asia sales due tariff repercussions

On April 9, the price of general-purpose polystyrene CFR China was $1,140/mt, unchanged from its previous assessment. GPPS CFR Southeast Asia, assessed on April 9 at $1.160/mt, was also stable from the previous assessment. High-impact polystyrene CFR China was $1,230/mt on April 9, down by $15/mt since the last assessment. HIPS CFR SE Asia, meanwhile, was $1,250/mt. Both were down by $15/mt. Taiwan-based producer said that "GPPS will continue to be used for packaging and disposable cutlery, so the demand is expected to remain stable." The tariffs will have a significant impact on HIPS, which is used in toys and appliances.
