Asian PS: Prices are stable or lower amid market turmoil due to tariff tensions /HIPS Demand is slowed by US Tariffs EPS Producer concerned about SE Asia sales due tariff repercussions

On April 9, the price of general-purpose polystyrene CFR China was $1,140/mt, unchanged from the previous assessment. GPPS CFR Southeast Asia remained at $1,160/mt in April 9, a similar level to the previous assessment. High-impact polystyrene was assessed at $1.230/mt on April 9, down by $15/mt compared to the previous assessment. HIPS for SE Asia came in at $1.250/mt – also a $15/mt decrease from the previous assessment. UNV1 producer said that "GPPS will continue to be used for packaging and disposable cutlery, so the demand is expected to remain stable." The tariffs will have an impact on HIPS, which is used in toys and appliances. The looming global economic slowdown will also affect consumer spending and thereby reduce demand for HIPS.
