Asian Propylene prices slip after a firm start to the week / Buyers unwilling to accept $800/mt level / China's Wanhua restarts cracker

Asian propylene prices fell $5/mt per day on June 27 to $795/mt CFR China and $5/mt to $745/mt F.O.B. Korea. However, the prices increased $30/mt in a week. Prices rose in both the domestic and international markets earlier in the week after China's Zhenhua Petchem closed its 750,000 mt/year dehydrogenation of propane plant in Shandong Province on June 22, due to a problem with the technical equipment. Sources say the plant is expected to close for 20 days and that propylene prices in Shandong are rising due to the shutdown. CFR China prices rose to $800/mt but then fell over the course of the week, as the demand for the product slowed. A few downstream PP plants are willing to pay $785/mt and will not make much money at $795/mt....
