Asian Propylene: Prices on downtrend amid increasing supply / PP production issues lead to increase in supply / Trade outlook remains murky amid tariff uncertainties

Asian propylene prices declined week over week as of May 30, due to an ample supply of propylene in both Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, with some downstream units either shut down or experiencing production issues. The CFR China marker was down $20/mt week over week at $775/mt May 30, while CFR Southeast Asia dropped similarly and was at $785/mt, both due to increasing spot supply in the market, sources said. In related downstream news heard affecting the propylene market, South Korea's Polymirae has shut two out of four polypropylene units in Yeosu for maintenance lasting around "7 to 10 days," a company source said May 29. It is understood that South Korea's YNCC is the main propylene supplier to Polymirae. did not succeed in reaching YNCC for a comment...
