Asian Propylene: Prices move up WOW amid firmer domestic prices in China / CFR SE Asia drops $10/mt amid low demand / S-Oil to shut PO plant for 60 days maintenance

Asian propylene was assessed up $10/mt week over week at $720/mt FOB Korea and $750/mt CFR China as domestic prices increased in China and traders and other market participants indicated rising prices in international markets, also said to be due to tighter supply. “Supply is tight, and demand from customers is showing signs of improvement,” a China-based trader said, explaining the firming prices in China and internationally. A factor that may have contributed to firmer domestic prices in China over the week is that China’s Jinneng Chemical (Qingdao) planned to shut its No. 2 propane dehydrogenation unit at Qingdao in Shandong province for maintenance lasting 20-30 days from mid-January, as reported by earlier.
