Asian Propylene: Prices fall after restart of Shandong PDH unit in China / Market prepares for launch of China propylene futures trading / CNOOC Daxie to start new propylene, PP unit

Asian propylene prices dipped $5/mt week over week to $770/ mt CFR China, and $2/mt to $738/mt FOB Korea July 18. Prices eased after China’s Zhenhua Petrochemical achieved on-spec production of propylene on July 13 after restarting its 750,000-mt/year propane dehydrogenation plant in Shandong over July 12-13, reported earlier. The plant was unexpectedly shut on June 22 due to a technical issue. CFR China prices were largely hovering around $770/mt during the week ended July 18. Domestic prices in Shandong were Yuan 100/mt lower week over week at Yuan 6,300/mt July 18. A Taiwanese market source said the restart of CPC’s residue fluid catalytic cracker in Dalin was getting closer — expected to happen on July 24 — and CFR Taiwan prices were easing as a result of that.
