As a result of continued weak PP demand,
the Asian propylene market remained lower for two consecutive days on Aug. 18. The ICE October Brent
crude oil futures were up $2.1-3.5/b over the previous Asian close of $93.98/b
at 0830 GMT Aug. 18. However, the market's battered propylene industry was not
supported by the crude oil price rise. A
Korean propylene trader stated that the weaker propylene prices are more about
downstream performance and demand. The
average breakeven spread for propylene was $150-180/mt. China's Oriental Energy plans to restart its 660,000-mt/year
propylene dehydrogenation plant at Ningbo in Zhejiang, after it was shut down
