Market sources indicated that the Asian
naphtha forward market sentiment is expected to improve on July 13 amid worries
about East Asian demand for oil olefins. The CFR Japan July-August Naphtha derivatives time spread
decreased from $3.75-4.50/mt down to $6-7/mt by 0330 GMT, July 13 from $9.75-10.50/mt
as of the Asian close on July 12. A slight
decrease in backwardation was also observed in the forward structure, which
indicates a weaker market sentiment. The
August-September naphtha spread was 25 cents/mt lower than the $9/mt close. Although Asian petrochemical cracking margins in Asia were
poor, market sentiment was still affected by the additional naphtha available
