In the week leading up to August 10,
European polystyrene markets saw little activity due to the holiday season. Markets
had a slow reaction to the fall in monomer pricing. After a fall of Eur400/mt
in July, three major producers indicated that there were no settlements in the
contract market. A trader stated that the
fall extended to the spot market for one producer. This week saw fresh import offers. The market heard that
Turkish, North African, and Middle Eastern origin material were all dropping
below Eur2,000/mt CIF/DDP for GPPS. Spot
prices in Europe paint a mixed picture, traders stated. One trader stated that a deal was made at Eur1,830/mt DDP
