On June 14, the FOB Korea marker dropped $5-6/mt
as the trucker strike impacted demand for propylene fuel stock. Ulsan, a South Korean
propylene producer, said that shipping problems led to increased inventory and
lower operational rates at downstream producers. This resulted in lower demand
for the feedstock. The South Korean
propylene producer said that it is still unclear whether the strike had a
positive or negative impact on the [propylene] marketplace. He also stated that
the producers have reduced propylene production in order to meet falling
demand. This could eventually help the market. South Korea's Taekwang Industrial plans to keep the Ulsan
propane dehydrogenation unit at 90 percent in June. This...
