- Pricing direction for benzene appears uncertain- March saw downstream styrene traded at $1,220-1,280/mt

The European benzene market was quiet on
February 13, with very little interest from buyers. This was in line with an uncertain pricing trend
for European benzene so far in February, which saw both price gains and losses
during the first two weeks. The forward delivery laycan for five
to thirty days was valued at $1,014.50/mt CIF.ARA. This is $1.25-2.50/mt less
than February 10, as the structure that was backwardated remained in place from
February through March. A styrene exchange was heard
downstream at $1,220-1,280/mt FOB AR for March loading. This trade
was made after the 4:30 PM cutoff for assessment. It was not included in the
assessment that day.
