Mixed xylenes, toluene, and buying and
selling interest remained at the same levels as on Sept. 15, keeping spot
September and forward month October prices stable. One trader stated that
while toluene, mixed xylenes, and toluene can still be used in gasoline
blendstocks it was becoming more difficult for refiners not to mix the
aromatics. According to the source,
"Octane prices are becoming too expensive to want a blend with, relative
to what gasoline price is." The price
of prompt unleaded gasoline 87 on the US Gulf Coast was 238.87 cents per gallon
on September 15, down 21.05 Cents per month. This was due to a seasonal drop in gasoline demand following
