prices increased Yuan 150/mt over the week to Yuan 7,850/mt February 22. This
was in response to gains in the upstream propylene/naphtha markets. Market sources indicated
that a high PP resin inventory and a large number of finished product converter
inventories, along with bearish macroeconomic trends, will limit any upside in
the near term. China's average PP plant
operating rates were between 75% and 80%. Some market sources predict that
downstream operation rates will remain below 50% through March. Trade sources indicated that Chinese exporters closely
monitor the markets in South Asia, South Asia and South America because of weak
