US Gulf Coast benzene was stable Nov. 2, as offers stayed
at the same level as the previous day's assessed value, while bids dropped. November FOB USG gasoline
at 299c/gal. This is unchanged from Oct. 3, when it was at 298c/gal. Since Oct. 20, when the spot price peaked at 338c/gal, it
has been falling. According to one source,
the price decline was due to expected imports from Europe. Weak downstream styrene is another factor that has a
significant impact on benzene price. It accounts for over half of all benzene
