The US Gulf Coast spot MTBE
price fell on Oct. 18 due to lower front-month gasoline futures. However, the
premium was stable in a muted market. MTBE fell 4.25 cents to
335.55 cents/gal on the day, falling from its Oct. 17 two-month high and
reflecting the decline in gasoline futures. The MTBE premium was stable at 80.49c/gal over NYMEX
November RBOB Futures, an increase of the premium that reached 89.95c/gal on
July 5. According to a market source,
Octane supplies are still tight for gasoline blending. Record high gasoline demand in Mexico is supporting MTBE's
price. US exporters mix MTBE to
Mexico-bound gasoline shipment shipments. This accounts for 57% of US gasoline
exports. NYMEX November RBOB was 4.25
cents less...
