The trading week opened on a brighter note
with Chinese methanol prices. They were tracking crude oil futures from July 18,
which rose due to Europe's vulnerability to oil and gas shortages during the
heating season. After Russia complained about
maintenance issues at the Portovaya compressor stations, the annual maintenance
of Nord Stream is scheduled to end on 21 July. Market
analysts are still unsure if the flow will return to its full capacity after
the maintenance is completed. Mid-June, the Russian
state-controlled Gazprom cut the flow to Germany via Nord Stream to only 40% of
its capacity. From July 15, the September ICE Brent contract
was valued at $4.46-5.50/b more at $103.47-130.50/b (0830 GMT) on July 18. The
