Asian polypropylene prices were mixed this
week, February 15, with the Indian market seeing a $10-15/mt increase. China continues to experience weak demand which
has led to falling domestic PP prices. Prices are
still low because Chinese PP producers have overcapacity despite operating
rates of 86%, a PP seller stated. PP buyers have sufficient inventory
to operate their operations. The
downstream demand is still weak at this point in time. According
to a source, buyers were protected by their pre-Lunar New Year purchases and
therefore no new purchases were made. The slower
Chinese demand had an impact on Southeast Asian markets. They waited for the
