Asian ABS prices fall due to poor downstream demand and tariff uncertainty / Demand for home appliances in the downstream remains low / China ABS operating rate drops 4.51% WOW

The Asian ABS CFR China mark at $1,330/mt was down $20/mt compared to the previous assessment on May 21. This is in line with the tradable indicator heard at this level. CFR Southeast Asia at $1,340/mt in May 28. This is down $20/mt compared to the previous assessment of May 21. The spread between CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia remains at $10/mt. ABS is under more pressure than polystyrene. A producer in Taiwan stated that they would be willing to lower prices by $10-$20/mt. A producer in Malaysia said that ABS demand was not very high at the moment. The majority of players are focusing on reducing their inventory during the 90 day tariff truce.
