interest in spot cargoes during the week, as some producers were heard using
styrene for ABS production. After
improved margins, the production rate of styrene monomer in China and
downstream products rose over the past week. As a result of prompt supply tightness, trade-in styrene
cargoes remained centered in Northeast Asia. This was due to China's relatively
low operating rates over the past months. According
to market sources, Typhoon Nanmadol had impacted cargo activities in Northeast
