Asian PTA Prices Rise on PX Increases-  PTA
Buyers remain in sideline due to weak polyester demand-  Indian
domestic markets deemed well-suppliedThe price of PTA in Asia rose in the week
ending Nov. 4, due to the rise in upstream paraxylene prices (PX). PTA producers increased
their offers to maintain healthy margins after key upstream PX price increases
of $61.08/mt. PTA buyers remained cautious
due to a bearish outlook on polyester. Few were willing to buy additional cargo
because of the lower operating rates at China's polymerization plants. According to market sources, operating rates at
polymerization plants were between 80% and 82% for the week. PTA rates were at
75%. The premiums paid for PTA shipments
to China within a timely manner fell Yuan 166/mt over the week. However, this
