Spot import polyethylene Terephthalate
prices in the US were $20/mt lower on Aug. 31, at $2,096-2,118/mt (95-96c/lb
DDP US West Coast), based on lower pricing indicators and in line with lower
Asian costs. According to a market source, import
PET prices were declining due to weaker Asian PET pricing and lower freight
rates from Asia. On the week of August 31, Asian PET prices fell
$20/mt to $1,090/mt FOB Northeast Asia. $1,160/mtFOB Southeast Asia. This was
in conjunction with lower upstream paraxylene costs. Container
freight rates between North Asia and the US West Coast and US East Coast were
