drop in Caustic Demand in Q1Spot prices for Caustic soda remained
stable in the week ending Nov. 8, owing to tighter supply and improved import
demand. Some plants also remained in force majeure. The December import prices
in Europe were around $1,300-1,600/dmt and there was still limited supply. According to one trader, despite prices reaching all-time
highs amid an inflationary spiral and with limited supply, demand is expected
to drop starting Q1 next. One trader also
pointed out the weak vinyls chain. Due to lower energy costs, caustic
production cost were expected to rise. This could incentivize some producers to
