volatile trading





According to northeast Asian producers,
China-based buyers appeared in the Asia styrene marketplace on Sept. 5, due to
tight domestic supplies. Other countries in the region are
still experiencing weak demand, apart from China. In most of
the countries of northeast Asia, downstream ABS and PS demand were still low. Due to the
bleak economic outlook, term contract negotiations are expected to be less
successful in 2023. A source claimed that operating rates in
northeast Asia, including China, were lower due to low demand. However, some
Chinese producers have increased their rates to over 90%. Asian spot
SM prices rose $26-31/mt to $1,124-1,150/mt CFR China on the day. China's
domestic price was higher Yuan 265-300/mt at Yuan 9,525-10,000/mt exp-tank. This...
