Low textile demand affects MEG prices | Aug Supply remains plentiful despite limited spot buying appetite

- Low textile demand affects MEG prices- Aug Supply remains plentiful despite limited spot
buying appetite

Asian MEG prices dropped on Aug. 10, as a
result of lower demand from downstream textile industries following production
cuts. According to
market sources, the low demand for polyester will continue despite production
cuts and high inventories in downstream textile markets. Spot procurement is not in high demand at the moment, but it
may increase slightly by mid-month when buyers start restocking for September. Some market participants stated that spot cargo availability
is still good as Middle East imports are expected to increase.
