The US spot export caustic soda price was
unchanged at $815-$825/dmt FOB USG on Aug. 16. This is based on stable pricing
indicators and continued tight supply. Spot domestic caustic soda prices increased from $40-45/dst
to $845-$855/dst exp-plant. Domestic contract caustic sod prices rose $40-45/dst
to $875-900/dst FOB US Plant. Both prices were based on higher pricing
indicators as price increases have been implemented. Shintech
announced an increase of $100 per day in domestic caustic soda prices on August
15, following previous price increases by the four US chloralkali producers. Multiple
market sources have confirmed that Olin announced in June a $125-140/dst price
rise and that it was replaced in July by a $250-270/dst price hike announcement. According to
