North American supply remains tight Crude prices still elevated despite a drop below

In spite of strong demand
and higher upstream prices, paraxylene supply in North America remains tight
for the week ending April 1. Spot prices for paraxylene declined by $40-45/mt
in the week ended April 1, following lower Asia PX spot and US MX prices. Sources said that there is still a healthy demand for PX to
be used in PTA/PET due to the continued high level of consumption in the
Americas' packaging sector. The summer
bottling season is also on the rise and is expected to remain strong. Sources said PET has resisted seasonal trends throughout
