Asian benzene FOB Korean prices increased
week-on-week by $1/mt to $772/mt Dec. 2. However, if you look at the weekly
average FOB Korea price drops, it is $33.56/mt lower. The structural supply of
benzene remains long, as evident by the East China domestic market which was
evaluated during the week in an ex-tank contango. Sources said that there was talk of factories producing
benzene derivative products closing earlier to observe public holidays in
China. Domestic prices for downstream
phenol plunged further to Yuan 8000/mt or $932.17/mt ex-tank. This represents a
drop of $77.34-82.50/mt over the previous week, and is below breakeven. CPC Corp., Unv1 is looking for two 3,000 mt of benzene
