As a result of low downstream trade and
abundant supply, sentiment in the Asia ethylene dichloride markets (EDC)
declined. The
expectation of deep-sea cargo arriving weighed on sentiment. Buyers cited weak
PVC markets as the reason for their lack of urgency in buying. According to market sources, there was no deal done.
Instead, the supply of PVC was still higher than the demand. The vinyl chloride monomer market saw prices rise due to
higher deals made with tighter supplies. Spot
availability was reduced by ongoing turnarounds in Indonesia and Unv1 as well
as an operating rate reduction in Unv1. This situation is expected to continue
through August. According to market
sources, the facilities will resume operations in September. A lack of clarity...
