Prices for Latin American Toluene/Xylenes are on the decline / Lower prices in US Gulf due to higher supply / Toluene price increases in Asia and decreases in Europe

The price of mixed xylenes and toluene in Latin America fell over the past week, as the US Gulf Coast prices for aromatics were lower. Latin American toluene was assessed at $684/mt, FOB Brazil, May 2, down by $29 from the previous week. Latin American mixed-xylenes, assessed at $691/mt, FOB Brazil, down by $42, both tracked the decline of US Gulf Coast prompt and forward months prices. According to feedback from the market, pricing was based upon prompt and forward month US Gulf Coast FOB assessments. A three-to-30-day netback formula which accounts for freight costs of $50/mt was used. NYMEX forward-month WTI settled for $58.29/b and NYMEX RBOB was settled for $2.0199/gal.
