The European acrylonitrile markets fell in
the week ending July 19 due to a lack of demand and ample supply. The CIF ARA
acrylonitrile spot prices were $1,590-1,620/mt on the 19th, down $105-120/mt
over the previous week. The fundamentals of supply and
demand looked bearish, so prices continued to fall for the second consecutive
week. The market was devoid of buying interest, which
kept liquidity low and supplies long, as producers sought consumers to sell off
volumes. A producer stated that there isn't much trading
going on. Demand for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene,
which has been falling since April, dropped further this month, as demand from
all downstream sectors softened. In July, the ABS market length was
