Asian benzene FOB Korean prices increased
week-on-week by $1/mt to $772/mt Dec. 2. However, if you look at the weekly
average FOB Korea price drops, it is $33.56/mt lower. The structural supply of
benzene remains long, as evident by the East China domestic market which was
evaluated during the week in an ex-tank contango. Sources said that there was talk of factories producing
benzene derivatives closing earlier in China for public holidays. Domestic prices for downstream phenol plunged further to
Yuan 8000/mt or $932.17/mt ex-tank. This represents a drop of $77.34-82.50/mt
over the previous week, and is below breakeven. CPC Corp., Unv1 is looking for two 3,000 mt of benzene
