Asian PVC market softens in China ahead of Labor Day Holiday / SE Asian markets quiet on tariff-linked uncertainties / China domestic prices rangebound due to easing supply

Asian PVC prices varied in the week ending April 30. Chinese export prices continued to soften, while China's domestic prices remained rangebound due to fluctuations in domestic futures as well as a reduction in supply after plant turnarounds. CFR China PVC was up $5/mt from the previous week to $700/mt on April 30. This is in line with deals concluded by ex-Japan or ex-Taiwan at this level. China's domestic ethylene-based PVC fell Yuan 50/mt from week to week, at Yuan 5,001/mt on April 30. China's domestic carbide PVC also dropped Yuan fifty/mt in the same time period at Yuan 4,760/mt. China's downstream factories have reduced or stopped operations ahead of Labor Day, and PVC inventories are expected to increase, but market participants expect a minimal impact on prices.
