the 16th of May, European benzene was stable in a market that had low demand. A trader stated that the demand is low. Methylenedianiline (MDA) was the only derivative of benzene
with a higher demand. The trader stated
that the general demand we are seeing is for MDA and not in other downstream
sectors. The five-to-30-day forward
delivery laycan was $943.25/mt CIF ARB, down $0.25/mt since May 15, as the
market continued to be in a backwardated pattern. On the day, there was some buying interest for material from
May. The front month assessment rose $2/mt and reached $915/mt. According to the trader, the overall demand on the European
