In the week ending May 7, Asian polypropylene market weakened. Polymer demand was low due to the uncertainty in the market. Many buyers were hesitant to buy, hoping for prices to drop further. PP Raffia CFR Southeast Asia was down $5/mt from the previous week to $920/mt as of May 7. The outlook for polypropylene remains bearish. Sources said that without a rebound in orders for finished goods, the majority of players expect PP prices to continue falling. Sellers, meanwhile, see little hope of a meaningful restock until after June when tariffs are clarified. Some producers said that prices are close to production costs, and they will have to reduce output if the prices fall further.
