Asia PP: Stable despite thin trade / Saudi Polymers plans Jubail expansion in 2029 / Freight increases

The Asian polypropylene market was stable during the week ending June 4. Southeast Asia was sluggish because of a seasonal slowdown before Hari Raya Haji, which is celebrated in Malaysia and Indonesia. Chinese traders reported that Vietnam prices rose due to an increase in offers because of higher freight costs. Southeast Asia prices are no longer different from Vietnam prices. Vietnam prices used to be slightly lower due to an oversupply of imported goods. Indonesian customers were said to prefer local materials for their price and supply speed, as the Rupiah was weaker against the US Dollar. This dampened the buying appetite of Southeast Asia. However, Vietnam's prices increased as the offers increased. Freight from China to Southeast Asia had risen from $10-20/mt up to $30-50/mt according to traders. The...
