US Recycled PET Markets See Significant Drops in Week■ USWC Markets down 5-15 Cents/lb for the week■ Discussions on market oversupplyIn the week ending August 3, the US
recycled polyethylene Terephthalate market saw significant price declines
throughout the value chain. While
prices for premium-grade PET bottle bales post-consumer and downstream clear
packaging flake in California's spot market remained the same, they saw drops
of 10-15 cents per lb in the earlier part of the week. The spot LA market for curbside material was down one cent
to 19 cents/lb on the day. Participants
were surprised by the large price corrections. However, others pointed out that
Q2 and Q3's high prices are not sustainable and they expect further drops
