The Asian polypropylene market was weak during the week ending April 30. Due to the uncertainty in the market, there was a sluggish demand for polymers. Many buyers were hesitant to buy, hoping prices would fall further. Sources said that without a rebound in orders for finished goods, players expect PP prices to continue falling. Sellers, meanwhile, see few chances of restocking meaningfully until tariff clarity is achieved after June. Some producers said that prices are close to production costs, and they will need to reduce output if the prices fall further. Sellers said that refineries with downstream PP units are still running at high speeds, over 90%. Propylene is produced as a side product of gasoline production.
