styrene monomer prices in Asia were down $1/mt, at $1,248/mt-$1,260/mt CFR
China basis February 8. China's domestic price was
down Yuan 15/mt to Yuan 9,255/mt exp-tank. This equates to
$1,263.14/mt-$1,263.25/mt if you use import-parity. The spot and futures prices in China's domestic market
trended down on the day due to low buying interest and high inventories. Due to the relatively large supply in China's domestic
market, which is supported by a new SM factory start-up and high inventory
levels, most buyers aren't in hurry to make purchasing decisions. The average east China port cargo inventory was 115,200 mt
on Feb. 7, an increase of 88.1% over the previous week. Traders stated that the gap between bid and offer levels was
