US HDPE - Spot export pricing down almost 30% since May■ Blowing, film-grade export levels down $111 per week■ The market was bearish, as contract levels also dropped 2
cents/lbSpot prices of high-density polyethylene
were at least $66.50/mt lower across grades during the week ending Aug. 3. This
was in response to rapid price drops that market sources reported as suppliers
attempt to sell inventory by cutting prices to attract buyers. On a FAS Houston basis and
based on rail car pricing of 44-45 cents/lb, blow molding prices fell from $111 to
$1,091-$1,113/mt (49.5-50.5 cents/lb). For
small volumes, rail car prices as low as 39 cents/lb have been reported in
August. The week's HDPE injection grade
was also assessed $111 lower at $1,091-1,113/mt (49.5-50.5 Cents/lb on a FAS
