In the week ending April 16, Asian polypropylene market were steady to slightly weak. The recent fall in crude oil is expected to lead to a continued reduction of buying appetite. PP Raffia CFR Southeast Asia was down $10/mt to $940/mt as of April 16. Sellers said that refineries with downstream PP units are still running at high speeds, above 90%. Propylene is produced as a side-product from gasoline production. The import offers have been lower each week while the majority of end buyers are taking a wait and see stance due to market uncertainty. The traders said that they have not seen any cargo being diverted to Asia because of tariffs, but it is imminent.
