Asian polypropylene market was mixed during the week of May 14. Chinese imports rose because local crude and futures prices were rising, but Southeast Asia remained slow due to seasonal lows in Malaysia and Indonesia before Hari Raya Haji. Vietnamese traders reported that the demand for Vietnam polymers had not increased despite the recent crude oil rebound. Exports were reported at $880/mt F.O.B. China. Many traders claimed that the imported cargoes had been re-exported to China at a profit because the local cargoes cost less. Polymer demand was low due to the uncertainty in the market.
