On June 27, the Asian naphtha market was
quiet with very little trading activity due to tepid demand. According to tender results, Formosa concluded
its term tender at $5-6/mt below the Mean Japanese assessments. Kuwait
Petrochemical Corporation concluded its sell tender at $25-30/mt above the Mean
Arab Gulf assessments. There are signs of recovery as cracker-feed
naphtha is in demand. Last week saw two spot tenders from South Korea and
two-term tenders from Unv1. Sources said that the sentiment
overall was still bearish due to unhealthy olefin margins. CFR
Northeast Asia ethylene and CFR Japan Naphtha physical spreads were at $161.50-180.50/mt
as of the Asian close on June 24, but it was lower than the $250-270/mt breakeven...
