Asia Polypropylene: Down on low demand / High PDH run rates in Sep / Negative outlook for PP

The Asian polypropylene market was weak in the week to Oct. 1 on lower discussions. Markets were quiet due to China’s National Holidays from Oct. 1-8. The Dalian futures exchange for January deliveries settled at Yuan 6,853/mt ex-tank, up Yuan 21/ mt from its last close on Sept. 30. Demand for all homopolymer and copolymer grades in China was heard to be extremely low due to sufficient supplies. Many Southeast Asian converters were heard to be buying locally due to sufficient supplies from local factories. Inventories were heard to be high in Southeast Asia, and demand was heard to be low, according to many traders. Chinese port inventories were heard at around 560,000 mt, down from inventory levels this time last year of 660,000 mt, according to a Chinese trader....
