Asian Polypropylene: Prices stable to lower week over week / Southeast Asia prices slightly decline / Intense competition pressures local producers

The daily Asian polypropylene markers remained stable day over day Oct. 29, while the weekly Southeast Asian prices were mostly $10/mt lower. Discussions for East China prompt domestic cargoes have been observed in the Yuan 6,560-6,650/mt ex-works range, indicating a contango of approximately Yuan 50-70/mt, trading sources said. In the Southeast Asian market, November-December selling ideas for polypropylene (raffia and injection grades) were heard in a wide range on a CFR SE Asia basis, with the lower end softer week over week. The spread between different grades, such as inflated film (IPP) and biaxially oriented film (BOPP) to raffia, is being discussed at around plus $30/mt and plus $10/mt, respectively. This indicates a relatively stable premium for certain grades over raffia. Despite these pricing discussions, the overall demand remains weak...
