Asian polycarbonate prices fell $10/mt week over week to $1,480/mt CFR China for general-purpose molding grade and $1,490/mt CFR China for extrusion grade on July 16. Market sources attributed the price decline to continued weak demand and lower feedstock costs. "The market is facing low demand due to the summer offseason and ongoing uncertainty," a Northeast Asian seller said. In feedstock markets, domestic Chinese ex-tank bisphenol-A down Yuan 250/mt week over week at Yuan 7,800/mt on July 16, amid continued weak demand and increased supply from newly launched production capacity in China. China's Shandong Fuyu Chemicals began BPA production in June at its 180,000-mt/year plant in Dongying, Shandong Province, following the earlier startup of its phenol and acetone units in March, market sources said July 15.
