Asian Orthoxylene: FOB China prices drop further amid ample supply, weak PA / PA prices drop $5/mt week over week / China’s October exports up 54% MOM

Asian orthoxylene was assessed $10/mt lower week over week at $725/mt FOB China Nov. 21, as supply continues to weigh on both export and domestic prices in China, while the downstream markets are also not performing well. Other Asian prices were assessed down $5/mt week over week at $730/mt CFR China and $755/mt CFR Southeast Asia, while the FOB Korea marker remained unchanged over the same period at $770/mt, considering rising isomer-grade mixed xylene FOB Korea average weekly prices, market talks of production cuts and selling idea heard at FOB Korea isomer-MX plus $120/mt. “Only $60-$70/mt spread, nobody can produce,” said a South Korean trader, referring to the spread between isomer- MX and OX. “We cannot sell OX at the current price,” said a South Korean producer.
