ACETONE: US spot Acetone was lower by $44
this week at $948/mt (43c/lb). FOB USG July 5, based on pricing indications of
42-43c/lb. Although the June domestic acetone
contract was settled at 47.75c/lb, this was not confirmed by MOC so the
assessment for May remained unchanged at 55.50c/lb ($1,224-1,250/mt). After MOC,
acetone truck and rail car pricing was discussed at 50 cents per lb Midwest. Upstream,
July's benzene contract was settled at 682 cents/gal. This is an increase of
203 cents/gal over the previous month. According to
one source, suppliers were experiencing difficulties due to the impact of
benzene prices on the acetone markets. PHENOL: The
